Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation

Physical medicine and rehabilitation, also known as physiatry, is a branch of medicine dedicated to improving and restoring functional capacity and quality of life in people who have physical impairments or disabilities. This may include disorders such as spinal cord injuries, brain damage, strokes, and discomfort or impairment caused by atrophied muscles, ligaments, or nerves. A "physiatrist" is a doctor who has acquired this type of training.
